Getting there takes a little planning. You will need a boat or passage on the Block Island Ferry. The ferry leaves mainland Rhode Island from several different towns.
After arriving on the island getting to the beach requires a vehicle or a bicycle. A short drive takes you to a dirt road and the Mansion Beach parking lot.
Just imagine one of the islands most glorious mansions sitting on this hill overlooking the beach below. Now the only remnants of the mansion are the foundation. The old wall is a great picnicking location.
Down on the beach you will find the softest white sand and hear the crashing of the waves on the rocks. If you go during the right time of the year you could be the only one on that beautiful beach.
